Rock The Casbah would eventually be The Clash’s highest charting single Worldwide reaching number 8. The song is a fable about the banning of rock music by the King and the consequential violation by the people of the ban.

An early song written and performed by The Clash, Spanish Bombs appeared on their debut album, The Clash released in 1979. The song is a portrayal about the Spanish Civil War. Spanish Bombs praises the heroic efforts of the Republicans in the three year long war ending in 1939 with the victory of the Nationalists. Throughout the song are the many people and places of the war mentioned in the lyrics.
