The Triple Stroke Roll like the other roll-type strokes is comprised of alternating handed strokes or hits on the drum head. The Triple Stroke Roll as an alternating rudiment, and can be started with either the right or left hand and comprises of three distinct hits, each stroke can be bounced or wristed to get the required number of hits. The Triple Stroke Roll is also called the French roll.

Start by striking the drum surface, then alternately strike the drum surface with the opposite hand. Use a metronome to produce clean, well-time strokes that are evenly spaced.
